I did my 2nd of 3 in the Farm to Fork Fondo series on Saturday and it turned out to be a beautiful day for a bike ride!! It didn’t get too hot, i don’t think it hit 80. All the aid stations are at local farms in the area, intentionally connecting cyclists to the farming communities. We had goat cheesecake bites, fresh blueberry gelato and garden frittatas, all made with fresh ingredients from the various farms. Notice how I went to the food first ?
I finished about 30 min faster and with an increase of 2 mph avg over last year! I did still have to walk a little bit (0.6 mi) of the 2.0 mile hill that’s an avg grade of 5%. The pre-ride route said max grade 8.4% but my actual ride file has 16% max so I’m ok with walking just a little bit. Last year I think i walked about 1 1/4. I know that listening to @Coach_Theia and following the workouts have made a huge difference for me this summer!!
For anyone on the US East Coast, look these up if you’re looking for a fun, well-supported ride. There’s still a couple left this year in Lancaster County PA, Shenandoah Valley VA and the Berkshires MA.
