Focusing on long exhales is important during a hard workout

If you train with me, you heard me say and read in the workout descriptions that, to get your breathing under control during those hard intervals, you should focus on long exhales.

Yes, I know it’s a process… sometimes I am not able to do it. But I used to breathe like I was going to die and my husband on the trainer next to me would keep telling me “BREATHE!”- and I was just like… I can’t!! Turns out I have exercise-induced asthma and only after getting that under control with an inhaler I am better able to focus on those long exhales.
