ZRL race #8 Watopia Waistband TTT last night was fast and fun! It was fun to look up and see I was going 29 mph at one point without working all out. I also love looking at my timeline afterwards and being able to see where I took pulls. It looks like a long over/under workout
Waistband is a fun one. I was a bit worn out on it for a while as it was the only course for the Zwift academy ride I lead last year (2019).
We had a good group of 5 and took turns pulling based on how everyone was feeling. I did some 4’ efforts high Z3/low Z4 so I didn’t over pull and split the group (my watts are higher due to my weight and a huge benefit on the flats) We were pleased with our performance and how well the group stayed together. I love these events for the team building aspect. Forgot to take the Zwift pic but you can see how I adjusted on my pulls to keep everyone together. HR stayed in the 140’s during the pulls with a few flashes in the low 150’s except at the sprint at the end.
That was fun for sure. You did some great pulls for us as always! My ride didn’t upload to Zwift which is weird. Don’t know if I’ve had that before. Shows I rode but no report! Oh well…no biggie! Can’t believe we are almost done this series!
You took some good pulls yourself @dirtgoddess! The series has gone by really fast. Check your computer, you can grab the file from your zwift folder there and upload it. You won’t get a report, but at least it will show in your zwift activities.
I’m so not techy so probably not going to pull that off Stef!! I use an Apple TV for Zwift so not sure my computer would have the file? And thank you…I enjoyed some pulls too and am feeling stronger with all of the couriering and training/racing/riding I’ve been doing
ZRL race #9 was brutal. Super punchy course not my strong suit. I wasn’t really familiar with the route so made the mistake of being not very well positioned when the long QOM climb started and that sealed my fate as things began to string out and break apart and I was too far back to get into a nice group. After that my race became a battle with a wheel sucker and a nemesis who is 3kg lighter than me and a good climber.
It got pretty ridiculous with the wheel sucker. I’d surge and she would too just enough to keep my wheel. I’d slow down and so would she. So at one point on a brief flat I dropped my watts so much she had to be in front of me and then she slowed down even more! So I upped my pace again and she did too. I’d get 1-2 seconds on her on short uphills and she would catch me on the downhills. So I bided my time and about a third of the way up the QOM on the 2nd lap when we hit a 7% grade, I dropped my feather power up and surged. By the time I hit the top I had about 4 seconds on her so the task for the rest of the race was to keep her from catching me. Then I set my sights on my nemesis who was about 15 seconds ahead of me, and managed to get within 5 seconds until the last bits of climbing. I finished 11 seconds behind her and 15 seconds ahead of the wheel sucker. I was 68th overall, my lowest finish for the season, but not bad considering my mistake at the start. And I still had fun with my mid race contest
@Stefanie. I love reading your race reports. It’s great to wrap my head around the technicality of it all. Sounds like you’re really worked your butt off on this one. Congrats on an amazing finish.
@Stefanie loved your report!
I completed FF2.1.1 during the race since I was one-pointer from sure on this course. I did past two riders in the last 2 miles, which was super fun. I had not ridden this course since starting training with Coach. I could tell I was stronger and can’t wait actually to race on it in the future.
