Homemade hydration drink for a long ride

Does anyone have a good recipe for a homemade hydration drink with added carbs? I’m still travelling and forgot my Tailwind at home… The local cycling shop sells Skratch packets at stupid expensive price so I’ll just make my own. I’m really looking for the ratio of water/sugar/salt as I got some maple syrup, lemons, green tea and sea salt around. We are doing a hilly metric century tomorrow and it’ll be hot and fun such that I hope to get most of my “food” from the bottle (please don’t tell Dr Sims lol). I seem to do better this way anyhow. I’ll be carrying Skratch chews and bars for extra food. Just I may not get to them as easily. TIA!

There are lots of different recipes on the internet @ChaCha. I generally make this one but add a splash of lemon or lime juice to it to cut down on the maple sweetness.

  • 3 ¾ cups cold water
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Makes about 32 ounces
