Being hone is so hard not to raid the fridge. Tonight I had a white bean Thai spiced veggie burger. GF bagel thins. With butternut squash/pineapple sauce with pickled jalapeños. And cauliflower “steaks”. And some carrots.
I love these bagel thins but they have potato in them and it’s a nightshade that makes my joints ache. But tomorrow is a rest day and it’s an easy weekend so I should be ok.

Huge salad after strength training (dinner): kale, arugula, purple cabbage, red peppers, lentils, garbanzo beans, apples, eggs. Light dressing.

That looks awesome!!! Any specific ratios? I would actually try to make this from scratch :grinning:

Following!!!

Love how this looks! I have to admit that even though I eat plant based, and salads are the best, clean way to get good varieties of veggies, I can’t get fired up to eat them, giving me the impression that it’s too cold. do you do soup with it or just salad? Perhaps a good cup of tea with them…

A bunch of the green stuff and a bit less of cabbage, half cup garbanzo, half cup lentils, less than hand full of red peppers (not a huge fan, just wanted a bit of the taste), 1/3 cup chopped green apple, 2 eggs, salt, light red wine vinegar, drizzle of olive oil. That was at around 7 PM, then I had 25g of casein protein 30 min before bed to top off the protein for the evening.

Interesting Maria! I feel the same about salads and vegetables in general, and you will never catch me eating crisp or raw vegetables for that same reason. I grew up in Brazil as you know, and all the vegetables were always coked. So I only eat salads when it’s hot enough or right after a strength workout when I feel hot and not hungry enough for a hot meal. If you look at my other meal pics, all the veggies are cooked/hot. It’s a problem at home, because everyone else likes semi-raw vegetables -kids are constantly complaining of them being “mushy” :-1:

You could definitely pair the salad with a soup or tea. I don’t make soups… not really a fan. But I had a Romanian nanny for years who would cook the most amazing soups for my kids. It was incredible.

@Marmen21 I would love to see some of your recipes. I have gotten quite a few from @Stefanie that have become part of my weekly meals. I would love to go to a “James cooking class” if he ever had one or at least a meal planner!:rofl:

I am not much of a cook, so my stuff is pretty bland!  With that said, I will share as soon as I can (after work)

@gosimrr, spinach & chives pasta. The “sauce” is onion, mushrooms, & tomatoes with a few dry seasonings (Not huge fan of tomato sauce) and tofu.

Carbo-loading!

That pasta sounds good.

Hmm casein? Something specific or is it a food type? Heard the word before but not computing :woman_facepalming:t3:

I keep calling for a James cookbook @gosimrr ! I love soup also so any recipes @Coach_Theia or @Marmen21 please share!!

Yes, it’s a slow-release protein, perfect to be taken at night for deeper sleep and better muscle repair. It’s similar to whey but whey is digested faster, making it ideal for post-workout recovery. They are both derived from milk, both have BCAAs.

Whey is considered to be the more anabolic (muscle-building) milk protein because of its ability to rapidly spike blood amino acid levels, which are necessary to kick-start muscle protein synthesis.

Casein, on the other hand, is often considered to be an anti-catabolic, or muscle-sparing protein, because it provides a steady stream of amino acids over time that keeps muscle tissue breakdown at bay.

You might remember hearing about casein from Jeevers.

@Coach_Theia Do You mix that casein in with anything? I thought I read some feedback that it’s not real tasty.

The casein I use is tasty! But it’s thick, so you have to either use a blender bottle (the one with the ball) or an actual blender. I love to mix the chocolate flavor with a few frozen strawberries in the blender- and it feels like I am eating a “treat” before bed.

I was unusually hungry after this mornings workout… so I dug into the leftovers
Sushi bowl from last night (which are amazingly popular with my kids :woman_shrugging:t2:). But it hit the spot!

Do you just buy casein or is it with another powder?
