Thanks @vivian.a.workman it’s nice to know about the evening race. I was a bit disheartened to see a bunch of A Cat racers from team DBS signed up for my B race. I contacted their admin/coach before the race, and his answer was that these women get crushed in the As and lose motivation, and therefore the B race is better for them because they can “enjoy it”, plus they had a “very hard workout” the day before… Sure enough, they won 1st, 2nd and 3rd and did not get DQ’d by ZP.
I also wasn’t feeling so great yesterday, had GI issues for 2 days and legs were heavy. But I was able to solidify my 2nd place and am glad the series is over
You had an outstanding series with super strong performances/ Congrats!!!
That answer makes me so angry! Racing doesnt work like that, on zwift or IRL. If they were tired, dont friggin’ race! Should men enter womens races "because they are tired"then? Stay in your cat. always! Gee… rant over! Always raise your voice when you see stuff like that. It ruins e-racing and should always be adressed when it occurs.
If that were me I’d find a new coach. What that says is you are not good enough. Who does that? And the coach had them do a hard workout the day before a planned race? Wow. With a mindset like that I question how they win at all.
I’ve played on teams that barely won a game and lost to scores of 3-33 (softball) and conversely beaten teams 25-1 (ice hockey, softball). At no time did any of these teams say hey since you can’t win consistently you should play down a level or quit the league. You take your lumps, learn and keep at it.
Last year I was getting lapped in D races, now I’m on the verge of moving up and I’ll happily take my beating as a C any day than to sandbag down in the D’s.
On a positive note the lady who beat me last night contacted me thru strava to congratulate me on the race and thank me for helping push her into C cat and she hoped to see me up there soon.
Theia, are you or is anyone else here going to do the next shorter series? I considered the pre season race today but even though I didn’t win I’m kind of annoyed at the bait and switch USA cycling pulled on the winners.
Yeah, that was pretty lame @medic7404. You did great in the league! Super strong!
I am not sure about the next one. Probably not… although you only need to race 3 times. I think USA Cycling will keep rolling out these short series for the rest of the year when they finally give away the shoes I also never got the weekly give-away when I won one of the races.
@adm0629 it was an error on the setup of the series in ZP (there is a “button” to select “ZP category overrides w/kg”) and it was fixed after I contacted the series organizer.
Yeah the switch sorta sucks. I don’t think its the right thing to do and I think it will reduce participation. I’ll post the email below. What really sucks is I’m sure if I cat up (which should happen soon) I figure I’ll be starting all over. So I’m glad I pushed myself to perform but I also figure I thus blew my shot at the main prize. They should have stated it was going to be a 4 part season and not just a series.
I’ll probably race them as it’s getting hot here so either morning or late evening rides or it’s mid 90’s (like right now finishing up SpeedProgressions workout).
If I try these, I may cat up also. But yeah it totally messes up the whole points thing. I was wondering if anyone got the prizes. That really sucks they didn’t hold up to that either.
I might try one next week. One of my teammates was going to race the one last night and there were only 6 Bs signed up and when she dropped into the pen a few minutes before the start there were only 3 people there so she dropped out too. I offered to join her next week if she wanted to try again. I don’t have a USAC license so it’d just be for fun without the possibility of prizes
Yesterday was a pre-season race, and it was scheduled/published sort of last minute… so I think there will be more racers starting next week. Give it a go Stefanie!!
I decided to race today. I had a 20K TT on my schedule as a workout, so I figured I’d do it in a race, considering that I could not ride early today, and mid-day was too hot. Plus all the traffic and lights… There were only 4 women in the afternoon B race but boy, it was spicy! They were all USAC registered racers and kept throwing attacks!
