Woo hoo @vivian.a.workman! Well done!

@Coach_Theia and @vivian.a.workman, I love hearing your race strategies and thinking about how the training workouts teach those physical skills. Congrats on great results!!

Thanks everyone! @vivian.a.workman so strong! I am sure the racers in your category see your name on the app or pen and start sweating already!

Excellent work and exciting results @Coach_Theia & @vivian.a.workman! That was a massive effort @vivian.a.workman! Your graph scares me just looking at it. A well-deserved first place!

Did the race today an dit was 20 laps of the crit course. Oh my… I had done a 30 min race on that course and it was fun, but 20 laps was painful! Because the speed is so high unless you stay in the front it’s easy to lose the draft, even in the group. What made it harder for me today was a muscle strain from yesterday. I decided to go all Usain Bolt on my 100m sprints last night and pulled a muscle on my left glute. Sometimes I forget that (1) I am 48 and (2) I am not a runner! But today was race 9/10 and my 8th race of the series - I couldn’t skip it now!! Let’s see how much damage I did to the muscle tomorrow.

I ended up in 6th place because I could not get a good sprint out of my legs. I had to fight the urge to quit every lap after Lap #8. Looks like I am still in 2nd in the series.

It was 12 laps in the D but I agree it could have been shorter. After 10 I was like this should be over.

I decided to treat the first 20’ as an FTP test as it’s been a while. So I warmed up and just gunned it right off the bat. When I saw I had the lead I usually back off but I held the gas down. At 20’ I relaxed and rode most of the remainder easy. One lady beat me (she had to work to catch me and I didn’t give chase or try to hold her off) but she’s not on ZP and I’ve raced her before and she’s a mid pack C.

Ended up lapping the rest of the D field and got a nice FTP boost. Almost a C, I just need to work on hanging onto that power for a longer time.

Normally when I race there is a lot more variety in my pace so I can keep it closer to FTP for longer. But I can tell I’m stronger and I’m having an easier time accelerating and holding the higher powers.

And now I know my workouts are going to hurt

Not USA Cycling unfortunately so no real prizes. I asked if I could join after the 4th race but didn’t get a response back.

Next week is a climb. Not my favorite but I can do it.

Congrats on the FTP boost @vivian.a.workman! I saw that coming… and id it didn’t, I was going to suggest a bump.

Next week is long, at 27 miles :sob:

Wow. You pushed through and hard. Hope your glute is ok today @Coach_Theia. I can’t imagine 20 laps on that course. The 8 lap Bell lap race is plenty and fun. Yikes.

@vivian.a.workman WTG!! and congrats on the new FTP. You pushed hard and 12 laps, amazing work there.

Way to go @vivian.a.workman! Congrats on the ftp increase too! :muscle:

A 27 mile race @Coach_Theia? Pfft, that’s short!

Congratulations @Coach_Theia and @vivian.a.workman on your incredible efforts and the well-deserved results. Hope your muscle issues settle down @Coach_Theia. @vivian.a.workman, you are obviously a tough, smart and tactical competitor. When you can lap the field you definitely deserve an upgrade - and your graph still scares the *** out of me.

Finally tried a different email (or it went thru with a different subject)last week but they told me I could still sign up and be official for the final rankings, they would go back in and retroactively pull my results once I sent them my ID number. Did that immediately so will see what happens. If not I’ll be all set to get my ass kicked next series

My fave pre-race meal: steamed white rice with eggs and salt. Simple carbs, light and easily-digestible protein, and sodium!

What a race @Coach_Theia!! Way to fight it out, omg 20 laps of Crit City :grimacing: That is a lot of hard circuits! I’ve only raced that course once, think it was 10 laps and I was TOAST! Another super result @vivian.a.workman, we did that course together and I miss racing with you. You will definitely be in C any day!!

Could tell I was carrying some fatigue into today’s race, I’m sure from donating yesterday. Some aches and such. Power wasn’t all there and I was struggling to get my cadence out of the 70’s. HR was also a bit low. Still took 2nd. Kept exchanging drafts with the winner around the flats. Usually this is where I make a move but it wasn’t happening tonight. It was her first race on ZP and looking at her activity history her last race was the mountain route and she averaged 2.8 with the massive descent. So I didn’t chase when she started up the climb at 3.2 and just let her be.

Decided to take a day off from work and such tomorrow evening though I have things to do and go fishing on the greenbrier. Will be a nice trip.

@Coach_Theia congrats on your race and 2nd place in the series. Your time would have won the evening B race.
