Final Surge Setup and Technical Q&A

thank you coach!

Is there a way to manually mark a workout as ā€œcompleteā€ without having the workout data load? @Coach_Theia has a long ride added to my schedule and I want my long rides to associate with that ride. But typically I will doing the workout and then just continuing to ride to accomplish the long ride. I would like to mark the workout as complete without merging the long ride to the programmed workout. Not sure if that makes sense, lol

@bkolden click on the workout then the pencil to edit, a window opens, select the ā€œCompletedā€ tab and enter details. You can enter only time if you want.

Hi Everyone and Anyone! I’m having an issue with Final Surge uploading to Zwift. It has worked in the past as evidenced by previous workouts being there when I open up custom workouts in ZWIFT. I’ve now tried two different sets of workouts - last weeks and this weeks doing the same things I’ve always done:

  1. Download from FS to my computer
  2. Cut and paste into my ZWIFT file that holds all the other previous workouts.
Once it’s on the ZWIFT rider numbered file, I see the ā€˜cloud’ and then it disappears letting me know it has downloaded on my computer. When I log into ZWIFT they are not there as custom workouts along side the previous and older files.
I’m wondering if this is a Final Surge issue or if I should be calling APPLE to see if they have actually downloaded. But why they would be in my computer file with 4KBs noted as size of file and then not be there on the app BAFFLES me. I’m looking for any help as I would really like to be doing the current workouts and not just going back to the past ones…or not! Thanks for any advice or redirection, a frustrated Kim :frowning:

@kswhite make sure you are uploading to the Zwift folder and not another folder with your Zwift ID, I have one with my Zwift ID that’s not under zwift so I have to be careful. I also launch Zwift on my laptop after I do that even though I run Zwift on my iPad to ride.

Same was happening to me. I was putting them in the wrong folder. Why there are two Zwift folders :woman_shrugging:t2:. But one has your Zwift ID. That’s the one you need to use.

Good luck.

@kswhite I use Zwift on Apple TV, but to access the Final Surge files there, I have to first download the WOs into my Zwift ID folder on my PC, then I have to open and run Zwift on that PC, then close and go to my trainer and start Apple TV. The WOs are then available. If I forget to run Zwift on my PC after adding the files, they won’t show up on the Apple TV. It takes a while to get all this done (10 mins), but usually I remember to do it on Mondays so that the entire week is ready on the ATV. (I have forgotten a couple of times, and due to time restraint I’ve had to just do a random ride instead.)

@nina have you tried doing the workout in ā€œfree modeā€? Pick a course and just follow the intervals from final surge by looking at the FS app on your phone. I’ve been doing workouts this way for 7 years now. It takes some getting used to at the beginning, but then it’s super easy. The workouts follow a very predictable format and the main set is typically reps of one interval type.

@nina you can always write out the WO or load it to your bike computer, that may be less effort - i wanted to free ride it yesterday so i just pushed it to my wahoo roam and followed it there - that’s what I do when I’m traveling and have to use a gym bike.

@PaleGail how do you do that?

@Coach_Theia Yes, I’ve done that a couple of times too  If the workout is hard, it’s difficult! I’ve also switched around a bit on the week instead, doing the Wed free ride with tempo if downloading’s been forgotten before Tuesday, for instance.
Now that it’s summer I ride outdoors every time the weather permits, and following a WO then is just impossible when I don’t have a power meter for my outdoor bikes.

@PaleGail I don’t have a bike computer, only the Garmin watch. But following the WO in FS works okayish, I just can’t be bothered sometimes, I want the Zwift countdown and ā€œsame procedure as alwaysā€

The only thing that’s a pain is i have it set up for my ā€˜rides’ to cross to FS from strava and they do from wahoo both so when i rode Fri and did the WO , i had t delete a couple one FS so it didn’t duplicate - but that’s easier than downloading from FS, uploading to Zwift, etc.

Thank you all. @Nina - I do too, so this is the added bonus info, THANK YOU! @PaleGail @Gossimrr - I played on my computer last night and found MORE than one file with my rider number. So, I dumped them in all LOL. Just back to my computer now and fired up ZWIFT and there they are in all their glory. Rode outside today ( road) and yesterday (gravel) and it was a real treat. Not hot, slightly overcast blue sky. I thought of you @Gossimrr as I wore my NYC Velo jersey  My hubby is training for an Olympic size triathlon in September, so I have a very motivated riding buddy. It’s so nice because I still don’t have a group to rie with here yet. And @Coach_Theia - perfect way to integrate the FS workouts! #noexcuses :upside_down_face:

Oh no @bkolden !! I connected everything between FS and Zwift late Tues night and when I was checking things last eveing, i noticed that the Thurs WO had not transferred so i did it the old way. I did miss doing this in the picture and I tried the manual push from the FS event (three dots, push to Zwift) which didn’t seem to work either - but the Sat WO is there
It says it sends the next 4 days WO every evening - i guess we’ll just have to see how it goes but even if 1 goes without the extra steps its a good day at least to me

@PaleGail I too didn’t see this step. I’ll see what’s what next week. I checked in FS and it says it’s connected. I guess if it doesn’t work I can always disconnect and reconnect.
